The pug is one of the oldest breeds, it`s believed to have originated before 400 BC in Asia. Some experts think they descended from a short- haired pekingese, but another theory is they came out of crossing small buldogs and another they came from rare french mastiff called Dogue de Bordeaux. Certain is they were favorite pets at Tibetan monasteries and later traveled to Japan.
The pug then came to Europe and became the pet of royalty in several countries. The pug became even the official dog of Orange in Holand. When the British overran the Chinese Imperial Palace they foud several pugs and bought them to England. The AKC recognized the Pug in 1885 and the breed has since become o popular companion dog.
